Effective at 12:01 a.m. EST on May 14, 2025,
the reciprocal tariffs on products originating in mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR will be reduced from 125% to 10% for 90 days.
Other tariffs remain in effect, including the following. Tariff stacking still applies, and the total rate will depend on the specific product:
International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) fentanyl tariffs (20%)
Base tariffs
Section 232 tariffs
Section 301 tariffs
Any other tariffs applicable to specific products
The de minimis duty threshold treatment for products originating in mainland China and Hong Kong SAR is not restored.
China's retaliatory tariffs on products originating in the United States will be reduced from 125% to 34%. Of these, 24% will be suspended for 90 days, meaning that only 10% tariffs will remain for 90 days. This measure will take effect before May 14, 2025 (the specific time is to be confirmed). Other non-tariff countermeasures are expected to be suspended or lifted, subject to official announcements.
